 Kristy Mall – Sixth Grade Teacher – Discovery School: School for Gifted and High Achieving Students, Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA.
Kristy has always been fascinated by science. As a child, she was often searching for dinosaur bones and fossils by day and studying constellations at night. A 6th grade science and language arts teacher at the Discovery School in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, she has been teaching for 17 years and earned a B.S. in English, a M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction, and a gifted education certificate from Middle Tennessee State University. She coaches several science competition teams after school in addition to her teaching duties.
I’m excited about being a part of the “Global Friendship Through Space Education” for several reasons. I was born in Africa, and have several close family members that have lived in various parts of the world, so I have seen first hand the importance of understanding and appreciating different cultures, as well as the need to experience the world. By working closely with classrooms abroad, I can open the world to my students in ways that books could never do, while fostering a love of science and space. The opportunities that this program offer are amazing!
